Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) Explained

To ensure our website is accessible, we follow the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1. These guidelines are an internationally recognised standard for measuring the accessibility of websites and applications.

WCAG uses three levels of conformance — A, AA, and AAA — to indicate the degree of accessibility. Smurfit Westrock is committed to achieving AA compliance wherever possible, ensuring that people with disabilities can access the majority of our content with ease.

 

Our Commitment to Meeting WCAG Standards

  • In June 2023, we partnered with AbilityNet, a leading accessibility charity, to support our ongoing efforts to improve website accessibility.
  • We require all web development service providers to adhere to accessibility compliance standards.
  • We encourage users to contact us if they experience any accessibility barriers.
  • This statement will be reviewed and updated in January 2026, including a report on our WCAG compliance status and independent verification of our progress.
