Designing a smaller retail display for Schwartz that delivers greater in-store impact

As spring turned to summer and shoppers began planning for gatherings and barbecues, Aldi stores grew increasingly busy with seasonal promotions. Amid the competition, Schwartz faced a familiar challenge: how to capture attention in a fast-paced retail environment where space was tight and displays often blended together. The solution had to deliver visibility while remaining simple, sustainable and fast to implement.

The Challenge

Schwartz wanted to bring more attention to its Grill Mates range, which had been getting lost on shelf. The timing lined up with the start of barbecue season, when stores are often packed with promotions and competition for attention is high. With limited space in Aldi stores, the challenge was to design a compact retail display that could still grab attention and be quick to set up.

The Approach

Our design team proposed a fully corrugated solution to simplify packing and assembly. Using visualization, we refined the messaging and made sure the barbecue theme was clear. The display was designed with a smaller, more efficient footprint to suit Aldi’s store layout, while also improving efficiency across the supply chain. To help standout, we added a barbecue-shaped header with pre-clipped 3D elements. These required minimal in-store assembly, with just a few tabs to complete the build. The result was a pre-filled display that was both eye-catching and easy to assemble, enabling quick setup across stores.

The Result

The finished display stood out in a crowded retail space, using a bold barbecue design and clear branding to draw attention. Its simple construction supported consistent in-store execution, taking just 40 seconds to remove the hood and finish the header. The corrugated build also improved sustainability by reducing material use. Beyond its practical benefits, the display helped raise the profile of Grill Mates in Aldi, making the product easier to spot and more engaging for shoppers during a busy summer period.
