Packaging that connects with the soul of El Salvador

The Challenge
Santa Eduvigis, a Salvadoran brand known for traditional products, created Sivar box, a curated collection of iconic local flavors designed to help people share a piece of El Salvador with loved ones abroad. Sold through key travel retail locations, the brand wanted packaging that could tell a richer story and evoke a stronger emotional connection.
While the company already had functional packaging, the challenge was to transform it into an experience that more effectively communicated its identity and conveyed the nostalgia, memories and sense of belonging associated with the flavours of El Salvador.

The Approach
In response to this need, our team developed a concept inspired by the flavors, symbols and memories that are deeply rooted in Salvadoran identity.
Thoughtfully crafted copy, illustrations and a color palette linked to both the country and the brand transform every side of the package into part of the story.
Products such as semita, traditional chocolate tablets, horchata and barley-based beverages are more than featured items. Each contributes to a narrative designed to evoke memories, emotions and a connection to home.

The Result
Sivar Box evolved from a functional package into a complete brand experience, helping communicate the identity of Santa Eduvigis while bringing a piece of El Salvador to people living abroad. The design received recognition at the GDUSA 2026 American Package Design Awards, highlighting the design, production and innovation capabilities of Smurfit Westrock in El Salvador.
This project demonstrates how collaboration, packaging expertise and thoughtful design can transform a brand need into a solution that connects products with culture and creates a more meaningful consumer experience.
